Export is native Revit geometry plus IFC and DXF. It does not replace every Civil 3D module, and it does not run EPA SWMM, catchment design, or duct-bank modelling.

Why Revit-first teams end up fighting their civil tools

The traditional route is Civil 3D for corridors and services, then an export that Revit treats as reference geometry. Elements are not editable, coordinates drift, and every design change restarts the handover. On data centre, pharma and campus projects — where architecture, structures and MEP already live in Revit — that handover is where the schedule leaks.

InfraGrid attacks the handover rather than the modelling. The civil model is authored against the same coordinate system, then written into Revit as native families that behave like the rest of the model.

Live sync, not a one-way export

The Revit plugin seeds a coordination matrix from the Revit model, then keeps the two in step: push the browser design in, pull Revit changes back out. Coordinates, levels and units are reconciled on the way through, so the road you drew sits where you drew it.

IFC import and export cover the rest of the supply chain — ArchiCAD, Plant 3D and anything else that speaks IFC — with clash detection running in the browser before anything reaches the federated model.

A realistic Civil 3D alternative

InfraGrid is not trying to be every module of a desktop civil suite. It is aimed at the work most infrastructure teams actually repeat: corridors with proper construction build-up, gravity drainage and utility corridors, lighting, long sections, chamber details and quantities.

There is nothing to install for the design work, licences are per user rather than per workstation, and a new engineer is productive the same day — which is usually the deciding factor rather than any single feature.
